On the day when America mourns the loss of the victims of the Islamic terrorist attack on the New York World Trade Towers and the Pentagon on 9-11-2001, our embassy in Cairo, Egypt was attacked, again by Islamic protestors. The demonstrators climbed the walls of the U.S. Embassy and pulled down the American flag to protest a film they say is insulting to the prophet Mohammad. In its place they raised a black flag carrying the slogan: “There is no god but Allah and Mohammad is his messenger.” Al Ahram online says the film is reportedly being produced by U.S.-based Coptic-Christian Egyptians with the support of the Terry Jones Church in the United States. Jones is the evangelical pastor who stirred controversy last year by threatening to burn a Quran in public. CNN says the film in question is a Dutch production.

After the protest, the U.S. Embassy issued this statement on its website.

“The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions. Today, the 11th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, Americans are honoring our patriots and those who serve our nation as the fitting response to the enemies of democracy. Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy. We firmly reject the actions by those who abuse the universal right of free speech to hurt the religious beliefs of other.”

Wow, we apologize to Muslim terrorists who attacked us on sovereign American soil on the anniversary of 9-11. There have been several anti-Christian and anti-Semitic movies made over the years without violent protests from those groups. And these movies receive praise from the left as expressions of free speech. We even give grants to “artists” who do great works like piss Christ.

Later in Libya our U.S. consulate in the eastern city of Benghazi was attacked by armed terrorists. The American ambassador and three staff members were killed by the gunmen. There was no immediate comment from the State Department in Washington.

Of course there was a lot of fallout for the apology. The Obama administration tried to distance itself from it. The Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, however, re-affirmed its apologetic stance that was disavowed earlier by the White House. Trouble in paradise? Clinton is in lockstep with how Obama would have handled this situation in the past. Obama openly supported the radical Muslim brotherhood’s takeover of the Egyptian government. He even sent funds to them to help them get started. Yes our taxes were used to fund an Islamic terrorist group. Had this been in his second term Obama probably would have been proud of the terrorists. However, that pesky little thing called an election looms over Obama’s head. Thus he is avoiding the apology. But he is not showing the leadership that we expect from our President when we are attacked. Makes you wonder how America would be now if Obama was President on 9-11-2001 rather than George W. Bush. That is a very scary thought. November cannot come fast enough.

Cynical Battle over Bush Tax Cuts Extension

Today the Senate will vote on extending the Bush tax cuts. The Democrats will present a cherry picking bill that would let the cuts on the so-called wealthy expire. They do this is spite of the fact that Obama, in a rare moment of truth, said that the last thing we need to do in a recession is to raise taxes. The Democrats know that they will not get 60 votes and it will fail. This is what is called a safe vote, the Democrats can vote on it for their constituents knowing that it will fail. It is a very cynical part of daily politics. Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader, is making it interesting because he may allow a vote to take place with a simple majority rather than requiring 60 votes to pass. This will put some Democrat Senators in tight races in a position of raising taxes on farmers and small businesses. The Republicans will also present a bill to extend most or all of the cuts and will fail as well.

This is ridiculous. These cuts go back to 2001. They have been used as a political weapon by both parties for years. The vast majority of both Democrats and Republicans know that letting the cuts on the “upper income levels” expire will have a devastating effect on the economy. Even if they are extended businesses will not have the confidence that they will stick to really start investing their capital. These cuts should be made permanent until a fundamental re-write of the tax code is made. In the long run we need a much simpler tax system with permanently low rates to sustain a good environment for a strong economy.

Below, see a list of the most well-known tax increases that could occur on January 1, 2013. These are several others that will expire as well.

Tax Rates:

  • The 10% tax bracket will expire, reverting to 15%
  • The 25% tax rate would rise to 28%
  • The 28% rate would rise to 31%
  • The 33% rate would rise to 36%
  • The 35% rate would rise to 39.6%

Marriage Penalty Provisions:

  • The standard deduction for married couples will fall, no longer double what it is for single filers;
  • The ceiling of the 15% bracket for married couples will fall; no longer double what it is for single filers

Other Provisions:

  • The child tax credit will fall from $1,000 to $500
  • The tax rate on long-term capital gains earned by middle and upper-income people would rise from 15% to 20%
  • The tax rate on qualified dividends earned by middle and upper-income people would rise from 15% to ordinary wage tax rates
  • The PEP (personal exemptions phase-outs) and Pease provisions (overall limitation on itemized deductions) would be restored, rescinding from high-income people the value of some exemptions and deductions.
  • Dependent care credit — increase of dollar limit on creditable expenses from $2,400 to $3,000 ($4,800 to $6,000 for two or more children), increase of applicable credit percentage from 30 to 35 percent, increase of beginning point of phase-out range from $10,000 to $15,000.
  • Education IRAs (Coverdell education savings accounts) — increase of maximum annual contribution from $500 to $2,000, expansion of definition of qualified education expenses, increase in the size of the phase-out range for married filers to double that of unmarried filers, provision of special needs beneficiary rules, contributions by corporations and other entities, and contributions until April 15th, permitted.

Slavemaster Obama

In addition, the number of Americans on food stamps is now 45 million, up 70% from just 4 years ago. That is 1 out of every 7 Americans, shameful. We are spending $72 billion this year as compared to $30 billion 4 years ago. Obama’s goal is to make as many Americans dependent on the government (slavemaster) as possible. He is succeeding.
