Dr. King’s Dream has been Snuffed out by the Left

The Democrats love to talk about Dr. Martin Luther King. But Dr. King would be disgusted at the so called black leaders of today. And he would be very disappointed that the first black President chose Al Sharpton as his chief advisor on race. Dr. King’s dream of a color blind society is not the Democrat Party’s dream.

The Ferguson Opportunity

President Obama is using the Ferguson incident to further his agenda and to cover up his dismal failures as President.
obama-swearing-in-2009-bible-thumb-640xauto-7454When he called for a summit at the White House to discuss Ferguson and did not include the Ferguson police but did include Al Sharpton his lack of resolve to solve problems, real or perceived, was exposed.

If Obama wanted to find solutions he would not be singularly focused on the police. The policeman was not charged with anything based on overwhelming evidence.  A serious effort to avoid these rare but tragic incidents would involve digging into the “community” issues. Obama could have shown real leadership by condemning the lack of respect shown by Brown when asked to get out of the street and condemning all citizens, black or white, for resisting arrest. Furthermore he should have condemned the violence in Ferguson. If Michael Brown complied with a simple request he would still be alive and probably robbing stores again.

The bigger picture of the black community is the desperation of lack of job opportunities, the failed education system, high abortion rate and the decay of the black family unit. Black unemployment peaked at over 17% and is about 11% for adults and 21% for 16-to-19-year-old teenagers, the highest jobless rate of any minority group in the U.S. This is understated due to the large number of people that are not counted because they dropped out of the hunt for a job.

President Obama has the sworn duty to protect the Constitution and uphold the laws of our country. Eric Holder ERIC HOLDER-AP PHOTO-CROPPEDhas the same responsibilities. Both have chosen to disregard those duties and have joined the race industry opportunists like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, et al.  The big losers are the black community but sadly they will continue to vote in their slave masters.

It’s Time for an Honest Conversation about Education and Racism

Recently Chicago Teachers Union president Karen Lewis spoke about education reform at a City Club of Chicago luncheon.

clip_image002 This speech was given a day before the first set of school closings, twenty-eight, was set to begin. Her comments are representative of the problems in the black community.

She asked: “When will there be an honest conversation about poverty and racism and inequality that hinders the delivery of an education product in our school system? When will we address the fact that rich white people think they know what’s in the best interest of children of African-Americans and Latinos, no matter what the parents’ income or education level?” She went on to say that Chicago is the most segregated city in America.

She did not stop there. Lewis said that there are more foreclosures and school closures in minority neighborhoods. She also blamed banks for driving people out of their homes through illegal foreclosures, resulting in underutilized schools and a smaller tax base. “If the banks had not crashed our economy, the district would now have nearly $180 million more to invest in our classrooms,” she said. She forgot that banks were coerced to give loans to people who could not afford them which inevitability and predictably resulting in foreclosures and massive losses in the banking industry.

She said inequality has prevented people from embracing more revenue for schools through higher property taxes. “If you look at the majority of the tax base for property taxes in Chicago, they’re mostly white, who don’t have a real interest in paying for the education of poor black and brown children,” she said.

Of course her solution called for more school funding rather than more cuts and layoffs – pointing instead to TIF funds, taxes on commuters and financial trades, and what she called a more equitable tax system to bring in billions of dollars for schools. For the left there is never enough funding for any program.

Let’s dissect this. First, schools were closed because they were failing. Also there was an oversupply of schools and lastly a need to cut costs. The reality is that until true reform is implemented including free choice, schools will continue to fail but that is a discussion for another day. Lewis of course blames racism for the cuts despite the fact that the mayor is black and Chicago has been owned by the Democrats for decades. It is because “rich white folks” don’t understand or care about the needs of black children. I ask, when it comes to education shouldn’t the needs of black children be the same as white children, Asian children and Latino children? Should not we concern ourselves with really educating our youths rather than filling them with propaganda? Well the teacher’s unions do not care about that at all. And the Democrat politicians see the educational system as a training camp for indoctrinating future voters and rewarding their allies in the unions.

She asks when will there be an honest conversation about poverty and racism. Well her idea of an honest conversation is quite different from a truly honest discussion. Her discussion would be about blacks as victims and whites as haters. Fairness would be discussed as a need for the rich (white) folks to pay more in taxes to help out the minorities. She would not want to discuss decay of the black family unit, proliferation of single mother households, lack of responsibility of black fathers, abortion rates of young black women, unemployment rate of black youths and generational welfare in the black community, all by design and made possible by the black leaders like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and Democrat Party policy. These so called leaders thrive on the misery of blacks. Their livelihood depends on it. Democrats also have a vested interest in perpetuating victimhood and dependency in the minority communities.

Yes Ms. Lewis we do need a really honest discussion about this.

Censorship is alive on college campuses

Recently an editorial appeared in my alma mater West Virginia University’s student newspaper the Daily Athenaeum, calling for the censorship of certain speech. One of our most precious rights in America is the right to free speech. It is a fundamental tenant of a free society. It is why so many people want to come here and live. Unfortunately there has been a movement by the left to redefine and limit free speech. Free speech now must now be constrained by shackles of diversity. The writer was offended by a speaker, Tyler Herrinton, who spoke about his religious beliefs. I never heard of this guy and did not hear him speak. I am not defending him but his right to say what he believes. It seems as though he has violated the new rules of free speech. It is acceptable to speak out against Christians and Jews, and conservatives and whites but we must not speak against Muslims, the religion of Islam, gays or minorities.

It is ironic that college campuses, formerly hotbeds of free speech, are now places where free speech is restricted. There is no outcry when our government funds “art” like the “Piss Christ”, which is very offensive to Christians. There is no outcry when the New Black Panthers state that they want to eliminate the white race or when Al Sharpton calls white people “crackers” or Jews “diamond dealers”. And Muslims have so terrified the world that no one can speak out against terrorists’ attacks for fear of insulting their religious beliefs. College campuses welcome terrorists like Bill Ayers to speak but they throw stuff at conservatives like Ann Coulter if they are invited to speak and call for the school to ban speakers who don’t follow their politically correct ideals.

The writer frames her call for selective censorship under the tired cloth of diversity. Diversity is a good thing when it is a natural outcome of a free society. It is not a good thing when forced upon a society. College campuses should be a place for listening to all ideas, not just those on the left side of the political spectrum.

On July 15, 2012 Microsoft Corp. and NBC News announced that they are dissolving the final shreds of their 16-year marriage. The relationship began to unwind in 2005 when Microsoft sold its stake in MSNBC’s cable TV channel to NBC. The website has been rebranded to NBCNEWS.com.

I guess Microsoft finally realized that they should have nothing to do with this disgraceful organization. MSNBC has become nothing more than a hit squad for the Democrat Party. NBC news was once a proud and dignified news organization. With its line-up of biased so-called news anchors and political shows that are one sided, it has sunk to depths below even CBS.
