The Democrat Party sure has changed over the decades. The 2012 Democrat Party Platform, a document that represents the soul of the party, is missing the one mention of God that existed in the past platform. The principle that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel has also been removed. Contrast this with the 2012 Republican Party Platform that has 12 mentions of God, and still staunchly supports Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
The removal of God from the Democrat platform is making news, but is it really news? Yes the 2008 platform had the one mention of God (“We need a government that stands up for the hopes, values, and interests of working people, and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential”). But the 1960 platform, the year that a Catholic ran for President in the Democrat Party, had only one mention of God as well. The 1950 platform had a whopping 3 mentions.
This makes sense when you think about it. With decades of Democrat controlled Congresses we have seen prayer taken out of the schools and we have experienced constant attacks on our moral principles most notably the one man one woman family. Our choice is clear in this election.
After much pressure the an amendment was proposed to put back the word God and a reference to Jerusalem into the platform. The vote required a 2/3 majority. The vote was taken three times and, despite the fact that the nays were more vocal, the amendment was adopted amongst a hall full of boos. Yes, the Democrat delegates booed God loudly and animatedly. This was done to shut up the critics. The Democrat Party has not changed and it still Godless.
